Telling stories is a beautiful responsibility. Creating a comic book means taking on a very difficult challenge: product quality is fundamental, but the real magic lies in finding the right path to break through into the hearts of the most curious and fearless readers.
Behind every single page is a journey that lasts months, sometimes years. It’s a slow, painstaking gestation that requires total dedication, but one that yields an indescribable thrill once you cross the finish line. After years of inspiring collaborations with various publishing houses, I realized that the moment always comes when you have to listen to your heart, letting your most authentic thoughts run free among speech bubbles and panel lines. Choosing the path of independence and putting yourself on the line is an extraordinary adventure. Some would say, "Less risk, less reward." In this case, my greatest victory is precisely complete freedom of expression: staying true to my vision, entertaining long-time followers, and capturing the attention of the most skeptical readers.
To get to this point, I evolved my drawing style, revamped my workflow, and experimented endlessly, measuring myself against different perspectives until the work reached full maturity. The result is something entirely unique, outside the box of traditional editorial lines. And it’s perfect just as it is. True artistic courage lies in exploring new territories and forging paths never walked before.
Enough talk, let’s talk about DRAG STAR.
This story explores human weaknesses through an ever-shifting perspective: like a moving Tao, the narrative reveals the brighter side—the justification behind every act that appears wrong and immoral. The protagonists are three siblings, accustomed to pushing past the limits of the law to satisfy their primary needs, who find themselves forced to handle something completely beyond their control: two mysterious murders. The story opens with the existential reflections of the middle child, Jill, a cancer patient ready to orchestrate a jewelry store heist to pay for the expensive medical care required by Florida's healthcare system. Joining her are her older sister, a famous and volatile Drag Queen, and her younger brother, an expert hacker.
A continuous interplay of events between "Right" and "Wrong" slowly brings to light the true reason behind the siblings' criminal behavior: a traumatic childhood and the early loss of their parents. The entire narrative is enriched by strong characterization: Patricia, the Drag Queen, calls to mind a refined lady from another era, performing exuberant routines with her colleagues at a nightclub called Mad Banana. Jill is more outspoken and irreverent, while Eddie, the youngest brother, seems almost naive and completely enthralled by a mysterious young girl who lives in the city's sewers.
